Curriculum

Our play-based learning approach uses children's strengths and interests to  develop relationships and interactions that foster a sense of belonging, being and becoming. Guided by the Early Learning Framework, we achieve learning outcomes through high quality, reflective and collaborative care.

Our programs celebrate children's play, discoveries and learning. Evidence of learning is meaningfully documented through reflection and learning stories.

Our indoor and outdoor learning spaces are welcoming and nurturing. Provocations are thoughtfully arranged to encourage discovery and self-directed play.

Through both intentional teaching and self-directed play, we design unique learning opportunities that support  each child in their individual learning journey.

We create learning experiences that encourage a  love of the land, nature and animals. We hope that our children will develop lifelong respectful and proactive attitudes to our environment.

We design unique learning opportunities and work in a hands-on way to encourage each child to progress in their learning journey.

Our curriculum focuses on the significant moments of learning to celebrate achievements and the character a child has brought to their learning experience. To create this kind of documentation, we reflect on the distance a child has travelled in pursuing their interests, overcoming challenges along the way and making discoveries, links and connections. We also offer a fully-funded Kindergarten program for 3 and 4 year olds, taught by a fully qualified Early childhood teacher.

We create a portfolio of achievements, goals and interests. Parents can look through their child’s portfolios at any time. The portfolio serves as an everlasting memory for families to keep at the end of their learning journey at Buckle My Shoe.

To create an all-important link between our centre and children’s homes, we also use the interactive app OWNA to communicate with parents.
